The Shanghai Cooperation (SCO)is an inter-governmental mutual-security organization, founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.


The SCO is created with the purpose of forming adiscussion platform for the countries in dealing with issues of common regional concerns, including regional trade, connectivity, energy coperation, security-related collaboration, drug-trafficking as well as extremism and terrorism.
